What is Project ARK?

Project ARK stands for Action for Resilience in Korando. Korando is the place where we are located. A small village within the suburbs of the Kenyan city of Kisumu. This project (ARK) is our joint fundraising initiative to support a major infrastructure upgrade for the Korando Educational Center in Kenya. The project aims to ensure the school’s sustainability for the next decade, creating a safe, healthy environment for students. All donations will directly support project ARK and will be logged on the Master Budget Google Sheet. We’ve broken every project down into the smallest possible line items, so it’s really easy for you to see WHERE your money makes a difference.

FAQ

Why does the Korando Educational Center need this upgrade?
The current facilities require urgent maintenance and improvements to meet the standards set by the Ministry of Education. Without these upgrades, the center risks losing its certification, jeopardizing access to education for over 300 vulnerable children.

How will this project impact the children and community?
By upgrading the infrastructure, Project ARK ensures that children can grow up in a safe and healthy environment while receiving an education that equips them for a brighter future. The improved facilities will also benefit the broader community by strengthening the Korando Educational Center as a hub for learning and development.

What happens if the fundraising goal isn’t met?
If we don’t meet the goal, we will prioritize the most urgent upgrades to ensure the center remains operational while continuing to seek additional funding for other improvements.

As a volunteer I have spent altogether several months in Korando, Kenya. There I was involved in many different projects to support vulnerable children on their way to a brighter future. Organised by Better Me. Also, I could learn a lot about Kenya, Better Me and its community, of which I was a part for the time being there. In fact, I still feel as a member even when being back home.
