Hi, I am Johannes from Berlin, Germany.

Travelling has led me to several countries in Europe, Asia and Africa in many different ways. The way of travel can vary by any means, including bike rides. A lot has happened on these journeys. I could see and learn a lot of things and meet a lot of great people who became friends of mine. Some of the experiences I want to share with you. Feel free to look around and enjoy a virtual journey.

A part of my life is volunteering, just to return something to the society, to some communities. Especially to those who need help the most. This has become a serious part of my life since I could see the need and impact of help provided to those people. For instance young learners in Kenya. Some of them are orphan children. I have supported entire school classes in various school subjects, including languages and math. Also life skill coaching or general advising are important subjects. I have found a place in and around of the city of Kisumu, Kenya where I contribute for several months per year. As of October 2025 I am planning my third (!) stay. I’m also into sports since almost ten years. Starting with some short track running nearly ten years ago, I like to attend half marathons and triathlons nowadays. I also like each of a triathlon’s discipline for itself however I am especially into long distance road cycling trips (not necessarily the sporty driving style) as well as medium/long distance running tracks. As of September 2025 I have applied for the Berlin Marathon 2026 which would be my first marathon at all and a special moment of celebration since I have turned my life into a complete different direction at this time (including quit smoking). Basically I am available for any kind of outdoor activity from hiking, kayaking, SUP and many more (apart of running and cycling).

Cycling brought me to Team Rynkeby, Europe’s biggest charity bike team. Thousands of cyclists and hundreds of supporters draw attention to child cancer and raise a lot of money to support children suffering from serious illnesses. This is a very meaningful project where I participate and contribute for the 3rd season (as of September 2025). All those riders and supporters are organised in local teams which will start from their home (or any suitable place) to Paris. This is a European charity rally taking place each summer for 25 years (as of summer 2026). A great way to draw attention, raise money and find new supporters for the next season. However, in 2025/26 season we’re around 70 teams on individual routes (to Paris) most of time.
